Session 2021-22 Update

We hope you have been safe and well over the summer. While we were optimistic that lectures would commence as normal in October, ongoing issues concerning venue hire, etc. are preventing this for now. Therefore, we have arranged Zoom lectures to cover this session and will add face to face events in due course, if possible.

The membership fee for 2021-22 is £18 for new members, £12 for renewing members, and £8 for junior members (under 16). Membership can be taken out/renewed by sending a cheque (payable to 'Egyptology Scotland') to the following address:

Egyptology Scotland

59 Old Mill Road

The Village

East Kilbride  G74 4EY

United Kingdom

Or to pay by bank transfer, email: treasureregyptscot@gmail.com

Please note that, due to Covid-19, we will not be posting out membership cards for this session, but members are welcome to check their number/confirm their status with us any time.

Session 2020-21 Update

We hope you have been safe and well over the summer. While we were optimistic that lectures would commence as normal in October, the health and safety of our members and friends is more important. Therefore, we have arranged a series of Zoom lectures to cover this session and will add face to face lectures in due course if possible, taking into account government health guidelines and the peace of mind of our attendees. You can find our events, which are open to all (with members having priority for booking), elsewhere on the website.

In light of the fact that several lectures from last session had to be cancelled, the following subscription rates are in place for 2020-21 (due 30 September):
£12 for renewing members
£18 for new members
£8 for junior (under 16) members

Members are reminded that accounts from the 2018-19 session can be viewed if required by contacting: treasureregyptscot@gmail.com. We will present a full update at the AGM in January 2021.

We hope you enjoy the programme and comments/suggestions can be sent to: chairegyptscot@gmail.com. For membership enquiries, please contact: treasureregyptscot@gmail.com.

Best wishes

Session 2019-20 Update

In keeping with current public health guidelines, we will not be holding any more events in the 2019-20 session, which ends in June. Members will receive a PDF version of the next issue of the newsletter soon. We hope to be able to hold our special extra lecture with Dr Bob Brier on 11th August 2020, but this will naturally depend on government advice in the coming months. Otherwise, we hope to be able to resume in September. We will be in touch again, but please see this website for the most up to date information.

You might be interested to know that the Egypt Exploration Society is streaming a few lectures. Pre-registration is required and attendance is limited so do book your place asap. https://www.ees.ac.uk/Pages/Events/Category/events

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and please pass this on to anyone you know who may have been thinking about attending forthcoming lectures. If you have any queries please get in touch. We hope to see you soon, and keep safe and well.

Best wishes

Session 2018-19 Update

As we prepare for Egyptology Scotland's 2018-19 session, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last year. Membership for the coming session is due at the end of September - as per agreement at our last AGM, the subscription fee for 2018-19 remains £18 for adults and £8 for under 16s, and the standard entry fee for lectures is increased slightly to £4 for members and £6 for non-members.

We are currently finalising our new programme of lectures and events, including a proposed weekend trip (train journey from Glasgow) to the British Museum to see the forthcoming exhibition 'I am Ashurbanipal: king of the world, king of Assyria', which runs from 8 November 2018 - 24 February 2019. At the moment, we are taking expressions of interest before looking into dates/cost, so if you would like to join us (with no obligation at this point), please reply to this email to be added to the list. Non-members are welcome, but priority will be given to members.

Our first lecture of the session is on 6th October 2018, 1.45pm in Kelvingrove Museum & Gallery Lecture Room, Glasgow, when we will be joined by Dr Mohamed Kenawi:
